Veneers in Vancouver
A dental veneer is a custom-made shell that sits over the front surface of the tooth. Veneers are largely used to conceal cracks, chips, and stains that may affect the top and bottom four teeth at the front of the mouth.
What Is the Process for Fitting a Dental Veneer?
Your dentist will start by preparing the surface of the tooth. They will grind down the front area of the tooth to make adequate space to fit the veneer. They will then take impressions of the prepared tooth and send them to the dental lab to create the veneer. Your dentist may place a temporary veneer until the permanent one is ready, after which they will permanently bond the newly created veneer using a special cement.
Caring for Your Dental Veneer
Veneers do not require any special attention beyond brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing daily. It’s best to use a soft bristle brush and non-abrasive toothpaste so you don’t scratch your veneer. Avoid biting into hard or crunchy foods, such as hard candy, apples, carrots or tough meats, as they may damage your veneer.
